Guidelines for Submissions
Content
FarscapeWeekly will consider for
publication any essay or original artwork directly related to Farscape.
Length is not a consideration, and there is no particular topic
list you need adhere to. There's also no particular tone or
viewpoint we're looking for, either. Disagree with a common
perception or want to debunk a myth you've heard floating around?
Want to explore a character in depth, or discuss parallels to
classic literature? Have an opinion on some Farscape
merchandise? All these ideas are terrific. As long as it's about Farscape,
we'll consider it.
There is one exception: fan fiction. FarscapeWeekly does not publish any fan fiction, poetry, or filks. The only exceptions to this rule are the winners of the ScaperCon 2000 contests that were published as part of the Farscape Jigsaw Special.
Style
and Form
In general, submissions should avoid the use of
chat style acronyms, abbreviations, and emoticons. Other than
that, there is no particular style that you must follow, either.
Articles are posted to the site in HTML but we ask that your
submissions be sent as either plain text, in the body of an
email, or as a plain text or MSWord attachment to an email.
Artwork
Artwork
should be in either JPG or GIF format; site tools will be used to
convert the piece to sizes acceptable to WebSeed. You may either
send the piece as an email attachment or send a URL link if the
site is already posted on the web.
Copyright
You
should only submit works for which you retain the copyright. That
means if you have already published the piece in another online
forum, giving that forum the rights to the piece, you should not
send it in. If, however, you have posted the work in a public
forum such as a bulletin board or newsgroup, you still retain
copyright and are free to submit your work wherever you choose. FarscapeWeekly
assumes you hold the copyright of any work you submit.
Plagiarism will not be tolerated. Do not submit works which you did not create.
Upon publishing in FarscapeWeekly, you will retain all rights to your work. Readers will be asked to contact you (or the site if you prefer) for permission to re-use your work.
Author
Contact
If
your piece is selected for publication, you may supply an email
address through which readers may contact you. You are not
obligated to provide an open email address.
Compensation
Currently
this site is very much a labor of love and is earning
next-to-nothing. At some point I'd like to offer something, however
small, to contributors, but currently I am simply unable to do
so.
